PAPCEL commenced the APS implementation project

The company PAPCEL, a.s., a traditional Czech manufacturer of paper-making machines and technological equipment, has decided to enhance efficiency of its management system. During the upcoming half year, advanced planning technologies (APS) will be deployed in this company. Company LOGIS have become the implementation partner of this project. The i2 Factory Planner system will be implemented during the project.

of PAPCEL production is designed for export. On May 15, 2008, the company PAPCEL initiated the APS implementation project of i2 Factory Planner system. The project will take place in three implementation phases in total duration of 7 months. Ing. David Dostál, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PAPCEL, quotes the following concerning the project: „PAPCEL is a fast growing company – we have doubled our sales in the last three years and we do not want to be down-to-earth with our future goals. We feel an increased interest in our products. However, production capacity of our business remain the same, which is why it is more and more complicated to maintain economic effectiveness, as well as promptness, reliability and flexibility in fulfillment of our orders. The PAPCEL orders are characterized in their high complexity, low repeatability and high proportion of creative work. Therefore, managing the realization of such orders is very demanding. You need more than just a pencil and paper or usual software tools for these purposes. Available resources of our company must be utilized to the maximum extent, which is why we shall deploy highly efficient advanced planning technologies. Deployment of such technologies is not a trivial matter. We shall change business processes, our people will have to handle new management tools. However, we are sure that the enhanced performance of the business management system is a precondition of the maximum leverage on our business opportunities. It is a necessary condition of our success.“ Ing. Ivan Dzido, Executive Director of PAPCEL, adds: „A couple of years ago we were sure that the way to resolve problems was clear – we would select some modern ERP system, and achieve needed results through the system implementation. We shall gain control of the main company process and learn to manage it effectively. This will then result in stock savings, higher production throughput, short and reliable delivery terms. We carried out the selection of ERP supplier, when we participated in the Inspiration conference, where a number of contributions were shown, in which Czech business representatives informed about results achieved by improved performance of their business management systems through advanced planning technologies deployed. All the projects presented have been supplied by LOGIS who is specialized in these problems. The conference became a real inspiration to us. We could compare results of communication with both ERP and APS systems customers and suppliers and we came to the conclusion that the high-performance planning system of APS class was definitely able to increase value to our business.
