Alca plast intends to increase its reliability of supplies despite the increase in production volume
High due date performance is a key condition of long-term strengthening of market position for Alca plast, the biggest producer of sanitary equipment in Central and Eastern Europe. In order to maintain the high standards of Customer Service and to further improve Operational Efficiency, the management of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation decided to implement the first stage of New Generation Planning system with LOGIS at the beginning of 2015. The main goal is an improvement of the order fulfillment process and the related KPIs.
The following main tasks were successfully solved during the first step: material flow synchronization, support of production rhythm, starting from melting of titan ingots to shipping of the finished products. The software product LOGIS Production Planner was used as the basis of the newly-developed planning system of VSMPO-AVISMA.

It is worth highlighting that the evolution of the planning system doesn’t stop with the project end. Therefore, we now continue to work on improving the quality of normative data, providing trainings for our end users, improving our accounting policy.”

Improvement of planning processes and KPIs at TVD

TVD manufactures the most of its production as MTO, usually in small production lots. The increasing pressure of the market on shortening delivery times leads to the fact that approx. 80% of all orders must be fulfilled within two weeks. So far, the company was able to fulfill customer orders thanks to an increased volume of operational management and urgencies at the cost of increasing volume of material on stock, especially metal sheets.
The management of TVD spent several years trying to find a way to solve the difficult coordination of the flow of material and the stressful effort dedicated to maintaining the standard of customer service, knowing that the way to achieve this goal is improving the processes of planning sales, purchasing and production. The initial activities in this matter were aimed at cooperation with a supplier of the enterprise information system, but even several years of effort and custom development did not lead to achieving the set goals. That is why TVD decided to address experts in the field of advanced production planning (APS), the LOGIS company, with which it implemented a project focused at a development of the planning process.

The project, whose total duration is scheduled for seven months, will cover the complete range of production of MS technik – Pressing shop, Tool room and Galvanizing shop. A significant part of the project will be funded by grants from the program of European Union ICT in enterprises. One of the key terms necessary for achievement of these objectives is without doubt the effective management“. In 2009 was completed project of master planning based on solution SCP of i2 Technologies. On monthly basis the solution is used for creation of balanced plans of sales, production, purchase and transportation of pipe and wheel production, flat metal production and raw material. Implementation of the fluent master planning processes enables to evaluate operatively different scenarios for forming and corrections of annual and quarter budgets, evaluation of cash flow need, planning of sales and purchase volume. In 2010 company begins the implementation of project production order planning based on solution Factory Planner of i2 Technologies. Project is focused to coordination of market and sales, purchase and production departments leading to timely fulfillment of customer orders. Implementation of the order management system enables to shorten lead times without increase of inventory either in raw materials as well as in finished production. BAST invests in the increase of efficiency of production planning and management process

A series of operations we used to carry out in cooperation will now be realized by our own forces. The extension of production however brings about greater demands for its management and planning. Efficient coordination of the entire spectrum of production capacities of our company represents a very extensive task. We know that it will be the quality of production that will decide on how efficiently we can use the new equipment. In the interest of maximum evaluation of our investment we therefore decided to reinforce current system of management of the company by application of advanced planning system (APS). We expect it to increase the reliability of supplies to our customers as well as to return rapidly the investment into the production equipment. We decided to issue a tender for supply of the advanced planning system. We did it in spite of the fact that we were very satisfied with the products and services of LOGIS company that delivered the existing ERP information system to us. The functions provided by this system in the area of corporate administration suit our needs. Based on the experience of other companies we also know that the replacement of ERP system in the area of planning and management does not lead to any remarkable improvements. The LOGIS company won the tender proceedings not only because of the extraordinarily efficient technology at favourable price, but also the quality of consulting services. The LOGIS specialists convinced us in the course of the tender not only with their knowledge of handling of the functional logic of the newly offered product, but also with their professional attitude to the analysis of the initial process of planning and concrete proposals for its improvement. Important role was played also by the fact that LOGIS is probably the only supplier in the entire central and eastern Europe specializing for a long time in the area of planning of order processing in the production enterprises and has been realizing most of its projects right in this area. Implementation of APS in company MEDIN
MEDIN, a.s. a traditional Czech manufacturer of medical instruments decided to support the efficiency of its management system by use of advanced planning technologies (APS). The implementation partner of this project is company LOGIS. During the project, whose completion is planned to the end of this years, will be implemented the APS system i2 Factory Planner.

Velocity, reliability and flexibility in supplies of medical instruments
On 15th April 2008 the MEDIN company started the project of the APS system i2 Factory Planner implementation. The project will be implemented in three stages with total duration of 7 months. Mr. Vladislav Ostrejš, MBA, the managing director of the plant states the following to the reasons of the project implementation: “MEDIN is generally known by high quality of its products. Furthermore we want to offer to our customers also high quality services, especially shorter delivery terms with higher time-reliability of supplies. We would like to effectuate nearly all the supplies that we provide on the order basis already within 2 days from ordering date. Our goal in deliveries of contractually agreed supplies is 100% fulfilment, with possible delay just in a completely extraordinary situation. In order to be able to achieve these goals we decided to invest into the development of our management system which will be this year enhanced by an advanced planning system. However, the increased customer satisfaction is not the only goal, for which we have decided to invest into the advanced planning project. Another area, in which we feel the opportunity, is the improvement of operational efficiency of our company. Above all, we are interested in the increase of throughput, where our objective is the throughput increase 10% achieved with the presently existing company resources. In selection process of supplier and solution we decided for LOGIS, which has more than ten-year experience with the implementation of the top APS solutions from i2 Technologies Inc. The results of projects implemented by LOGIS in a series of Czech manufacturing plants or abroad are remarkable.
